Software for film production and live events

Tools that tell you the truth on the day.

We build software for people working against a clock: in the production office, on the camera cart, at the door of a venue. Each product started as a tool we needed on a job.

Two products, two rooms

One for the set. One for the door.

Each has its own site, its own pricing and its own support.
This page is just the way in.

For film production

Write it, schedule it, slate it, deliver it.

Four apps that share one idea of the production, so nothing is retyped between the page, the office and the cart, and all of it keeps working when the connection drops.

  • Script to stripboard to call sheet without anyone retyping a thing
  • Any phone becomes the slate; every take files itself against the right strip
  • Dailies, selects and the day report are done by wrap
  • Buy the apps together or one at a time

For live events

Tickets, the door, and the audience that comes with them.

Sell, scan and know who came, on phones you already own. From a single screening to a festival season, with no hardware and no middleman between you and your list.

  • Scan at the door on any phone, with or without a signal
  • Passes that live in Apple and Google Wallet and update themselves
  • You own the list: who bought, who walked in, who came back
  • Priced for the room, from a one-off night to a season

Enterprise and partnerships

Running a district, a festival, a school or a studio?

Some things don't fit a sign-up form: a pass that works across dozens of independent doors, a credential for a whole campus, a slating workflow for a studio's own pipeline. For those we work with you directly.

  • Downtown districts and BIAs: one pass, every participating door
  • Festivals and multi-venue runs: capacity and credentials from one console
  • Schools and institutions: student and staff credentials on a phone
  • Studios and rental houses: filmslate fitted to how you already work

The company

Built on the day, not in the demo.

Exemplar Labs Inc. is a Canadian software company. Its products grew out of a working production company, where every tool had to earn its place on set before it was ever a product. That is why they are shaped by the day rather than by the demo.

The name comes from the mark. On a film leader, the sync point is the one frame where picture and sound are known to agree. Everything we make is for that moment: when two separate records line up and you can trust what you're looking at.

Absent is never the same as unknown.A camera that has stopped answering is reported as unknown, not idle. A status that guesses is worse than no status at all.
No connection is the normal case.A truck in a field, a door with one bar of signal. The work carries on when the link drops and syncs when it returns.
Nothing stands between you and your footage, or your audience.A licence check can decline new work. It never ends a take, and your audience list is yours to export at any time.
Every claim names something real.A feature on a page points at the thing that makes it true. We would rather say "not yet".
